Just give them a couple more innings and you'll hate them too. How about a squeeze?robiewood wrote:ESPN is a pleasure after 3 hrs of John and Susan

That was possibly the most stressful game in recent memory.

On a serious note, Mo's blown save was troubling. I was convinced the collapse was on. It was a team with nothing to lose running at will while the Yanks looked like a deer in the headlights. Nice comeback on the Papmeister though. Maybe the relief of getting the postseason will let them relax and they'll start winning. Great job by Hughesy tonight.

Some good take aways, although, I agree that Mo's performance was bothersome. The 9th sounded like a little league game -- two (actually 3) steals of 3rd base? What was the problem? Can't hold runners or throw them out. Thought Mo would step up and rescue the season.

First steals by Kalish were on Mo. He wasn't holding him on.
Steal by Hall was on Posada.

We do still need to win one more (or Boston lose one). Normally I wouldn't be concerned except that John Sterling guaranteed a playoff berth if this game was won. Sometimes I wish he would just keep his mouth shut.

You should have heard Sterling's call on that one. I had no idea what was going on. First he made it sound like a fly ball. Then it was deep. Long pause. Then, "the ball is off the wall." No, "it's a grounds rule double." Oh, a home run. etc. etc.

I can imagine, in his defense, it was the strangest thing. It looked like a flair off the bat and then it sort of took off and hit a fan in the first row who dropped the ball. I was like a golf drive. Guy still has scary power even (hopefully) without roids. Good night.
